I'm all caught up with DA now!
I've gone through everyone's art, caught up on webcomics, and got around to uploading some of my stuff from the past year.
I think I'm ready to be an artist again.

I'm working on a really big piece right now for a gallery.  One of the problems with big stuff is frames.  Frames seem to come in two styles - really tacky and cheap, or terribly expensive.  Recently I've just been going to pawn shops and buying someone's framed jigsaw puzzle, or crappy old poster, and throwing the content away and keeping the frame.  But then you never know what size you're going to get.  Last year I managed to find some Disney stand-up frame in a toy store for cheap, and I just threw away the stand and scratched off the Disney logo...  Why can't there be less expensive ones?

Anyway, thanks for sticking around.  If you know any good webcomics I might try reading, let me know.  It's become a nightly routine before bed. . .

Awesome to hear you're caught up~! :D

I think the one time I did a gallery-gallery show I went to a custom framer and I tried to keep my sizes generic enough that they wouldn't charge extra, but ughhh it was for art I had already done in the past so I didn't understand sizes. >< It still costed an arm and a leg (and I didn't sell any of my work because I didn't understand gallery culture)

I dunno if you can from where you are, but there's always Aaron Bros. with their buy one frame, get the second for 1¢ sale, lolz. :XD: I did that recently and managed to turn a small profit.

badass females and fun storytelling techniques aside, I just. really like how loose the art is???  It's something I'd love to tap into, pahahaha.

I'm of two opinions on this?

Like, because Pete & Sally are © copyright protected and I want to expand the IP, I want to make sure their likenesses are very clean and well defined, just-in-case in some random distant future scenario some scumbag tries to rip me off. But yeah, being able to go loose and hyper-expressive means something to me too (or at least I like to admire those who can make comics like that LOLZ)
